TRAINING & BREEDING QUALITY ROCKY MOUNTAIN HORSES

Watch Ebony as she gives a lesson. She has historically always had an exquisite gait!

My Husband enjoying an Expo with Ebony; She has power undersaddle

Below is Ebony's first foal, Dragon. She's as well gaited as they come! only 2 weeks with saddle training!

Ebony's Babies! Foals are always robust, correct and healthy. She is the best mare for milk production and teaching her foals respect.

AKA Ebony

Colossus was born in July 2021

Registered and Certified : RMHA
Color: BLACK and barely fades!
Gender: Mare
DOB:  5-22-2003 DOD: 7/19/2022
Height: 14.1 1/2HH; Wide build in a smaller package, great muscling, bone and balance - hard and durable feet! She has an easy to manage long mane and a tail that is very thick!

Genetics: EE, no agouti or silver.

Training: Trained in Colorado at first, then continued with natural horsemanship techniques and foundation. Shows, Expos, trails.

Personality: Stand offish at first, down to business undersaddle, She prefers to be ridden every day... I find if she sits for a long period of time she may test her rider (nothing like a buck or other vice, she just has ideas of her own), however she easily legs up and loves to work! We feel that because she  was owned by a novice in CO (just previous to R2 taking ownership) she learned to do things her own way, she never became dangerous in any case! Her foals showcase a typical rocky personality and are easily trainable! Her personality is solely her own due to her experiences. We love working with her babies- they are the best!!

"Ebony" (Ebs) is easily one of our best mares. She is our Expo horse that we haul across the country. She rides in arenas and stays in the stall during our stay very quietly. Ebony has the best gait. It is always 4beat and square (it's automatic). She steps up into the next speed from walk and literally zero step into trot (I only see trot in the pasture, never a pace). Very easy to balance out into a perfect square gait. Her gait can be rather fast to the inexperienced (also high stepping at times) but once learned it could be handled by the advanced beginner. She canters off easily as well. Her other set of skills include a turn on the hind and fore, side pass, back, rounding the ribcage and canter departures. She is a powerhouse and fearless on the trail!

We stay in contact with Ebony's breeders and they are very proud the quality being produced & passed on with their program's legacy! Ebony's 22 year old sire (now gelding) and 23 year old dam are still providing Rocky Mountain companionship to their original owners in Colorado!

Ebony is an easy breeder and foals easily. Ebs has foaled 5 times for us and each one is very special. They are easy foals who love people.

Her foals always tend to be larger than herself!

Foals we know and have trained:

Dragon: A filly who 14.3 HH at 3 years, and they can continue to grow until 6 years! Her owners ADORE her!

Tesla: A chocolate filly who was coined as "born broke!" by her owner who started her.

Toki: (14.2+HH @ 3) A tank of a filly who takes after her dam but is the true "born broke" filly! One of the easiest we have ever started.

Morty: An R2 colt by "Cotton" that is 15HH at 2 years old!

Colossus: A HUGE colt by another stud, Legacy! He is so beautiful and lives in Tennessee

Dark Star: Another HUGE colt by Legacy; Unfortunately Dark Star is resting in peace along side his dam.

Ebony herself may come off a little shy but she is all business once she gets to know you. She loves to stand for grooming/ saddling and is naturally kind on the ground. She is naturally laid back but under saddle she is energetic and fun! She is very capable of carrying an adult, she's proven herself to be quiet under saddle as we have ridden in just a halter and she is obedient. She is protective and adoring of her foals but it also allows her humans to care for them without issues. This mare is CUTE since she has very minimal white. She exhibits a very slight star on her forehead with small slipper on her hind foot.  She is quite the attractive mare! Her mane and tail are long! Soft! And easy to manage as it hardly ever knots!

She is one of a kind, perfect hindquarter, pretty head, flawless gait.

About my training:

I utilize many training techniques to create a well-rounded horse. Whether you follow Pat Parelli, Ray Hunt, Nuno Oliveira, Clinton Anderson or other top trainers, we optimize the abilities of each horse to create a willing and dependable partner under saddle and a far more dependable horse on the trail!

Ode to our Ebony.... We will always remember you! Ebony suffered a catastrophic rupture of her reproductive and digestive system during her last birth and had to be put down humanely. The birth was difficult due to an abnormally large foal who also had dystocia. We humble ourselves with the fact she has a legacy in her offspring.
